Alagoas

Alagoas is a state located in northeastern Brazil. It is currently newsworthy due to a recent tragic bus accident that occurred within its borders. On February 4, 2026, a bus carrying approximately 60 people, primarily pilgrims returning from a religious festival, overturned on a rural road in Alagoas. The accident resulted in the deaths of at least 15 people, including three children, seven women and five men. Several other passengers sustained injuries, including a child in serious condition, and were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The state governor has declared three days of mourning in response to the devastating event, highlighting the significance of the tragedy for the region and its people.
