Aveyron

Aveyron is a department in France currently in the news for two distinct reasons. Firstly, the Montézic hydroelectric power plant in Aveyron is slated for a significant expansion, increasing its electricity production capacity by 50%. This project, costing approximately 500 million euros and lasting seven years, aims to reduce France's reliance on fossil fuels. Secondly, Aveyron is connected to a tragic double femicide case. Cédric Prizzon, suspected of killing his partner and ex-partner, allegedly abducted them from Aveyron before their bodies were discovered in Portugal. Prizzon, now in custody, was reportedly active in online communities of separated fathers, expressing animosity towards his ex-wife and the justice system. The couple's children are being returned to French authorities and will receive psychological support. The case has also brought attention to the potential dangers of masculinistic groups.
