The town of La Bañeza in León, Spain, is the location of a recent violent transphobic attack. Bianca Lizbeth Fernández, Miss Trans Zamora 2024 and Miss Benavente, was brutally assaulted in a pub on Saturday night. The incident began in the women's restroom when a group of women confronted her, objecting to her presence there. The confrontation escalated, leading to a physical assault inside the pub involving four women, and later, a larger group of approximately ten people outside the establishment. Fernández sustained serious injuries, nearly losing an eye. The Guardia Civil has arrested five women, aged 18-24, in connection with the attack, charging them with assault and affray. The incident has been widely reported as a transphobic hate crime, highlighting issues of transphobia and violence against transgender individuals.
