La Bañeza is a municipality located in the province of León, Spain. Recently, it has become newsworthy due to a violent assault against Bianca Lizbeth Fernández, the current Miss Trans Zamora 2024. According to multiple news sources, Fernández was attacked on Saturday night in a pub in La Bañeza. The initial altercation involved four women inside the establishment, which escalated into a larger assault by a group of approximately eight to ten individuals outside the pub. Fernández reported that she was subjected to homophobic and transphobic insults during the attack and sustained injuries severe enough that she "almost lost an eye". The incident is currently under investigation, and has raised concerns about transphobia and violence against transgender individuals in the region.
