Cabo Verde, formerly known as Cape Verde, is an island nation located off the coast of West Africa. It serves as a strategic location in the Atlantic Ocean. Recent news highlights Cabo Verde's involvement in international efforts to combat cocaine trafficking. Specifically, Spanish police, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies from Cabo Verde, Colombia, France, and Portugal, dismantled a large cocaine trafficking operation. The operation involved using “floating bases” at sea to transport drugs, which were then moved onshore via speedboats. The investigation resulted in the seizure of approximately 10 tonnes of cocaine and the arrest of 105 suspects. This underscores Cabo Verde's geographical significance in maritime crime and the importance of international cooperation in addressing transnational criminal activities in the region.
