Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is a major international airport serving the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in Texas. Recently, DFW Airport became a focal point in a political controversy when Governor Greg Abbott threatened to revoke state funds over plans to install wudu (Islamic pre-prayer ablution) facilities. Following this, the airport scrapped its plans for these facilities, drawing condemnation from the Council on American–Islamic Relations (CAIR). In a separate incident, the airport was also in the news when an instructor from the University of Maryland, Berhanu Kibret, who had recently received a "teacher of the year" award, was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents upon arrival.
