Darfur

The Darfur region is part of Sudan, which is currently embroiled in a devastating civil war between the Sudanese army (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). This conflict, now entering its fourth year, is newsworthy due to its escalating humanitarian crisis and lack of resolution. Recent events include increased drone strikes causing civilian casualties, including attacks on hospitals, and reports of widespread sexual violence, with a significant number of victims being minors. The war has led to famine, massacres, and the displacement of millions, creating what is described as the world's largest humanitarian challenge. The crisis is further compounded by a lack of political urgency to end the conflict and the overshadowing effect of other global conflicts, leading to it being labeled an 'abandoned crisis'.
