In parallel, public health data from England indicates a concerning rise in measles infections, with over 100 new cases reported in the last fortnight. Tragically, two children have died from measles this year, one from acute measles and the other from its late effects. This surge in measles cases and the resulting fatalities highlight a critical public health issue across England, including the East of England, underscoring the importance of vaccination programs and disease surveillance.
