Eichsfeld

Eichsfeld is a district located in Thuringia, Germany. The village of Fretterode, within Eichsfeld, has gained notoriety due to its association with right-wing extremism. Most recently, Fretterode is newsworthy because journalists were attacked there while investigating the right-wing scene. The attackers included Thorsten Heise, a known neo-Nazi who settled in Fretterode around the turn of the millennium and previously ran a mail-order business from there, and his son.
