Ellendale

Ellendale, Delaware, is currently the site of a tragic incident involving a fatal hunting accident. Walter Moorhead, a 74-year-old Maryland hunter, was recently jailed on suspicion of manslaughter. Authorities state that Moorhead was hunting from a ground blind in a field near Ellendale on a Friday evening when he allegedly mistook a woman for a deer and fired his rifle. The victim has been identified as Santos Maria Chilel Soto, a Delaware woman. Her partner, Minivaldo Velásquez, has expressed outrage, stating the killing was "senseless" and that the hunter had "no excuse," questioning how a deer could be mistaken for a human. The incident has brought attention to Ellendale and raises concerns about hunting safety and accountability.
