The fire department is operating at full capacity, responding to hundreds of emergency calls related to the storms. Tragically, at least one fatality has been reported near Athens due to the severe weather. Schools have been closed, and residents are being urged to stay indoors. The combination of heavy rainfall and Saharan dust originating from Africa has created hazardous conditions across the Ägäis and Crete, impacting daily life and raising concerns about public safety.
