Golis Mountains

The Golis Mountains, located in Somalia, are a region where both ISIS and al-Shabab maintain a presence. These groups are the target of increased U.S. airstrikes and military missions, as reported by U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM). The recent surge in U.S. military activity, particularly in January, is aimed at degrading the capabilities of these terrorist organizations and reducing the potential threat they pose to the U.S. homeland. AFRICOM is working with the Somali federal government in these operations.
