Recently, Gracie Mansion has become newsworthy due to protests and security incidents occurring in its vicinity. Specifically, an anti-Islam protest and counterprotests took place outside the mansion, during which improvised explosive devices were thrown. Two men have been charged with terror offenses related to these incidents, with authorities investigating potential ISIS inspiration. A suspicious device was also reported nearby. The mayor-elect, Zohran Mamdani, who campaigned on housing justice, is preparing to move into Gracie Mansion, further highlighting its significance as a symbol of New York City's political leadership.
