Gujo is a city located in Gifu prefecture, central Japan. It recently gained attention as one of the locations that experienced an official "kokushobi," or "cruelly hot day," as defined by the Japan Meteorological Agency. This designation marks days where temperatures surpass 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit). The term was introduced in April to better warn the public about dangerous heat conditions, which are becoming more frequent.
