Harris County

Harris County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas, encompassing the city of Houston. It is the most populous county in Texas and the third-most populous in the United States. Currently, Harris County is newsworthy due to two unrelated events. First, a meteorite struck a home in northern Houston, within Harris County, on March 21st. This occurred roughly two weeks after a similar incident in Germany, leading astronomers to note the improbability of such close occurrences. Second, Charles Victor Thompson, convicted of the 1998 murders of his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend in Harris County, was scheduled to be executed, marking the first execution in the US this year.
