Haus der Kunst, a museum in Munich, is located near the Eisbach wave, a popular and iconic surf spot. The Eisbach wave is newsworthy because it unexpectedly reappeared after having disappeared following a river cleanup in October. The wave's return on Thursday was not a natural occurrence but rather the result of an illegally installed structure in the Eisbach river. This structure, consisting of a grid fixed to the riverbed with ropes, was installed by unknown individuals, presumably from the surfing community. The city's building authority (Baureferat) removed the unauthorized installation on Friday morning, resulting in the wave's disappearance once again. The Eisbach wave is significant to Munich as it has contributed to the city's reputation as a surfing destination.
