Helston

Helston is a town located in Cornwall, in the southwest of England. Recently, Helston has been in the news for two main reasons. Firstly, a local Tesco supermarket branch mistakenly displayed bilingual signs in Welsh instead of Cornish, causing confusion among shoppers. This incident highlighted the importance of accurate representation of local culture and language. Secondly, Helston was severely impacted by Storm Goretti, which brought strong winds and widespread disruption. A man tragically died in the Mawgan area of Helston after a tree, felled by the storm, fell onto a caravan. The storm also left thousands of homes in Cornwall, including some in Helston, without power and water for several days, prompting calls for a national emergency due to the scale of the disruption.
