Jabal al-Sheikh

Jabal al-Sheikh, also known as Mount Hermon, is a mountain range straddling the border between Syria and Israeli-occupied territory. Israel currently occupies a portion of the range. It is newsworthy due to ongoing US-brokered talks between Israel and Syria aimed at de-escalating military tensions and potentially establishing a security agreement. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has stated that a deal with Syria is possible, but he demands the establishment of a demilitarized buffer zone stretching from Damascus to Jabal al-Sheikh.
