Jardin des Plantes

The Jardin des Plantes is a botanical garden in Paris, part of the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle. The Muséum, which encompasses the Jardin des Plantes, is in the news as it approaches its 400th anniversary in 2026. To celebrate, the Jardin des Plantes is showcasing spring floral compositions inspired by the institution's historical libraries, spread across 2.5 hectares. Simultaneously, the Muséum faces significant challenges, requiring an estimated one billion euros for necessary renovations due to the advanced state of disrepair in many of its buildings. The Galerie de Paléontologie et d'Anatomie comparée is currently closed for 18 months for renovation. Despite welcoming over 3.6 million visitors last year, the Muséum's need for substantial funding underscores its ongoing efforts to preserve its historical and scientific importance.
