La Bañeza

La Bañeza is a town located in the province of León, Spain. It has recently gained notoriety due to a violent transphobic attack that occurred in a local pub. Bianca Lizbeth Fernández, Miss Trans Zamora 2024, was brutally assaulted by a group of individuals, reportedly between eight and ten people, after an initial confrontation in the women's restroom. The attackers also subjected her to homophobic and transphobic insults. The incident, which took place on March 22, 2026, resulted in serious injuries to Fernández, including potential loss of an eye. The Guardia Civil has arrested five women, aged 18-24, in connection with the assault, charging them with assault and affray. The case has sparked outrage and is being investigated as a possible hate crime, highlighting issues of transphobia and violence against the LGBTQ+ community.
