Maskana

Maskana is a town located in the eastern Aleppo governorate of Syria. It has recently been the site of significant military activity, making it newsworthy. The Syrian army has taken control of Maskana, along with dozens of other towns and villages in the region, after the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) withdrew under an internationally sponsored agreement. This withdrawal followed accusations by the Syrian government that the SDF had deployed military forces to the Deir Hafer front in the eastern Aleppo countryside, which the SDF denies. The Syrian army has been working to remove mines and other war remnants in the area. Civilians were urged to evacuate Deir Hafer and Maskana, with a 'humanitarian zone' established to facilitate their departure. The Syrian army's capture of Maskana is part of a broader effort to regain control of territories previously held by Kurdish fighters in eastern Aleppo.
