Musaga

Musaga is a populated district in Bujumbura, Burundi's economic capital. It is the location of a major Burundian army depot, situated less than 4 kilometers from the city center. Musaga is newsworthy due to recent explosions at the military base located within the district. On March 31st, a series of powerful explosions erupted at the ammunition depot, reportedly triggered by an electrical short circuit. These explosions resulted in civilian casualties, with reports indicating at least 13 deaths and dozens injured. The blasts caused widespread panic and chaos in Bujumbura, damaging houses, vehicles, and other property in surrounding neighborhoods. The incident has revived somber memories for residents and highlights concerns about the safety of ammunition storage in populated areas.
