Nakhon Ratchasima province

Nakhon Ratchasima is a province in northeast Thailand, located approximately 230km from Bangkok. It is newsworthy due to a recent tragic accident. On January 14, 2026, a construction crane collapsed onto a passenger train traveling from Bangkok to the province. The incident occurred in the Sikhio district of Nakhon Ratchasima. The crane collapse resulted in at least 22 fatalities and approximately 80 injuries among the nearly 200 passengers on board. The accident is under investigation by transport authorities. This event highlights concerns about construction safety standards and infrastructure maintenance in Thailand, especially in light of another crane collapse in Samut Sakhon province near Bangkok the following day.
