Nazca

Nazca is a region in southern Peru, most famous for the Nazca Lines, a collection of ancient geoglyphs etched into the desert landscape by the Nazca culture centuries ago. These enigmatic designs, visible from high altitudes, depict various animals, plants, and geometric shapes, and are a significant archaeological and tourist attraction. Recently, Nazca has become newsworthy due to a tragic incident where a tourist plane crashed near the Nazca Lines site. The crash resulted in the deaths of 13 people, including foreign tourists and pilots, while they were on a sightseeing flight over the famous geoglyphs. The incident occurred approximately 4 miles from the city of Nazca. This event highlights the risks associated with aerial tourism over the delicate Nazca Lines and underscores the ongoing importance of the site as a destination, albeit one now associated with this recent tragedy.
