New Territories

The New Territories is a region in Hong Kong located north of Kowloon and south of Shenzhen, China. It's currently newsworthy due to significant development plans and ongoing issues. The "Northern Metropolis" megaproject aims to transform the area, with streamlined land-use approval procedures being implemented, though experts emphasize the need for clear KPIs. A legal framework for this project will soon be presented to the Legislative Council. Infrastructure is also improving, with the MTR's Tsuen Wan line launching a new signalling system. Healthcare access is expanding, with a stroke patient transfer program being extended from the New Territories to the rest of Hong Kong. Smart meters are now available for subdivided flats meeting new standards. A hotel in Kwai Chung, part of the New Territories, is being converted into student housing.
