Croatia has arrested a second Ukrainian national in connection with the 2022 sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines. The suspect, described as a trained scuba diver, is expected to be extradited to Germany for further investigation. This arrest follows the charging of another Ukrainian ex-army officer a year prior for alleged involvement in the same incident. The Nord Stream pipelines, which transported Russian natural gas to Germany, were damaged by undersea explosions in September 2022, shortly after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. German prosecutors are leading the investigation into the blasts.
