Qamishli

Qamishli is a city in northeastern Syria, located in the Hasakah province. Historically, it has been a region with a significant Kurdish population and has been under the control of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). However, recent events have brought significant changes to the city's dynamics. Following a period of intense fighting between the SDF and the Syrian government forces, a US-backed ceasefire agreement was reached, leading to Syrian forces entering Qamishli to commence security duties. This ceasefire has evolved into a permanent truce, with agreements for integrating Kurdish forces into the Syrian state. The SDF has also agreed to integrate with the Syrian army, marking a shift in control and power dynamics in the region. The situation remains complex, with some Syrians welcoming the Syrian army's presence while others express fear. The withdrawal of Kurdish forces from camps holding ISIS families during the conflict has also created instability.
