Ricarda

Ricarda, along with Remolar, is a protected area within the Llobregat Delta in Spain. It's currently newsworthy due to the planned expansion of El Prat airport, which will encroach upon 27 hectares of its protected land. The Departament de Territori, Habitatge i Transició Ecològica (Department of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition) has initiated a process to identify land within the Llobregat Delta that will be acquired by Aena (the Spanish airport authority) as compensation for the loss of protected land in Ricarda and Remolar. Aena has pledged this land acquisition as a countermeasure to the airport's expansion. This situation highlights the ongoing tension between infrastructure development and environmental conservation, emphasizing the need for compensatory measures to mitigate ecological damage.
