Rwanda

Rwanda is a country in East Africa currently facing scrutiny due to its alleged involvement in the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The US has imposed sanctions on the Rwandan military and several top commanders, accusing them of providing direct support to the M23 rebel group, which controls territory in eastern DRC. Rwanda denies these allegations, calling the sanctions unjust. The M23 rebels are accused of a drone attack in Goma, DRC, resulting in civilian casualties and drawing international condemnation. The ongoing conflict in the DRC, including a recent deadly landslide at a coltan mine, exacerbates the humanitarian crisis. Archbishop Laurent Mbanda of Rwanda is also in the news as he now leads the Global Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans (Gafcon), a conservative Anglican movement.
