Ryazan region

The Ryazan region, specifically the town of Sasovo, has become a focal point due to a drone strike on a Yandex data center. Yandex, often referred to as 'Russia's Google,' is a major Russian tech company operating the country's most popular search engine, alongside widely used food-ordering and taxi applications. The Sasovo hub, one of Yandex's five data centers, experienced a fire and subsequent operational suspension following the drone attack on October 8, 2026. This incident is part of a broader pattern of escalating drone attacks targeting Russia's digital infrastructure, including data hubs, in response to Russian strikes on Ukrainian data centers. The attacks highlight the vulnerability of critical digital infrastructure and underscore the ongoing technological and geopolitical conflict.
