Sai Kung East Country Park

Sai Kung East Country Park, a protected natural area in Hong Kong, is currently newsworthy due to two distinct issues. Firstly, the park, along with other camping hotspots in Hong Kong, is experiencing overcrowding, particularly during holidays. This has led to increased litter and public concern, prompting the Agricultural, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) to consider implementing a booking system and charging fees to manage visitor numbers. Secondly, a severely decomposed whale carcass, measuring 11 meters in length, was recently discovered on Ham Tin Wan beach within the park. The AFCD is investigating the carcass to determine the cause of death and species.
