San Cristóbal

San Cristóbal is a town in Argentina, located 600 kilometers north of Buenos Aires. It recently became the site of a tragic school shooting at the Escuela Normal Mariano Moreno N°40. On Monday, March 30, 2026, a 15-year-old student entered the school with a shotgun concealed in a guitar case. As students were preparing to raise the flag, the student opened fire, killing a 13-year-old classmate and injuring at least two, with some reports indicating as many as eight, other students. The incident has shocked the community, with the governor of the province, Maximiliano Pullaro, stating that such an event had never occurred there before. The shooting has brought San Cristóbal into the national and international spotlight, raising concerns about school safety and gun violence in Argentina.
