San Jose Del Palmar

San Jose Del Palmar is a community of approximately 4,800 people located in the Choco region of Colombia, situated about 250 miles (400 km) west of the capital, Bogota. The town has recently gained significant attention as the epicenter of a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck western Colombia and was felt in neighboring Ecuador. This seismic event caused widespread destruction, trapping residents under debris from collapsed buildings and leading to widespread evacuations. Tragically, the earthquake resulted in numerous fatalities, with reports indicating at least 69 deaths across the affected regions, including significant casualties in cities like Pereira.
