In a recent event, a 51-year-old man, surnamed Chan, went missing after setting out for a hike on Wednesday morning. His wife reported him missing on Thursday when he failed to return home. A two-day search was launched by authorities, during which Hong Kong experienced its highest temperature of the year, exacerbating the challenging conditions. Sadly, the hiker was found dead on Saturday. This incident underscores the potential dangers of hiking in the region, especially during extreme weather conditions, and highlights the reservoir's role as a reference point in search and rescue operations on Lantau Island.
