Siverek

Siverek is a district located in the Şanliurfa province of southeastern Turkey. It is currently newsworthy due to a recent shooting incident at a vocational high school within the district. On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, a former student, described as being in his late teens, opened fire inside the school using a shotgun. The attack resulted in injuries to at least 16 people, including 10 students, four teachers, a cafeteria worker, and a police officer. One of the injured is reported to be in critical condition. Following the shooting, the former student committed suicide using the same weapon. The incident has drawn attention to Siverek and the broader issue of school safety and gun violence in Turkey.
