Stonecutters Island

Stonecutters Island, specifically the Ngong Shuen Chau Barracks, is a significant base for the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in Hong Kong. Recently, the barracks served as the venue for a reception celebrating the 99th anniversary of the PLA's founding, where a senior officer emphasized expanding patriotic and defense education. Furthermore, the island's naval facilities hosted Hong Kong students for an educational tour aboard PLA Navy warships, including the guided-missile destroyer Nanning and frigate Hengyang. These warships were docked as part of a port call coinciding with the anniversary of Hong Kong's return to Chinese sovereignty.
