Temascalcingo

Temascalcingo is a municipality in Mexico State, central Mexico, with a population of approximately 66,000 residents. The town gained recent notoriety due to a tragic incident that occurred during a festival for a patron saint. On Saturday night, September 6, 2026, a massive explosion of pyrotechnic material took place next to the Santa María Canchesdá church. The blast, reportedly caused by fireworks emanating from a burning bull effigy, resulted in the collapse of a wall and caused widespread devastation. Tragically, at least 10 people lost their lives, and another 64 were injured in the incident. Hundreds of residents had gathered to witness the fireworks display, making the event particularly devastating for the community. The explosion highlights the inherent dangers associated with pyrotechnics during public celebrations and the significant impact such events can have on small towns.
