Ñuble

Ñuble is a region in Chile, located approximately 500km south of the capital Santiago. It, along with the Biobío region, is currently newsworthy due to devastating wildfires that have led to significant loss of life and widespread evacuations. The Chilean President, Gabriel Boric, has declared a state of catastrophe in both regions in response to the crisis. These fires have forced the evacuation of at least 20,000 people and destroyed hundreds of homes. The most dangerous fire is reported to be sweeping through dry forests near the coastal city of Concepción. The severity of the situation has prompted local mayors to plead for national government assistance.
