Vado Ligure is a port city located in the Liguria region of Italy. It has recently gained attention due to a significant drug seizure. Italian authorities discovered approximately 1,700 pounds of extremely pure cocaine, valued at around $290 million, skillfully concealed within a banana shipment at the port. The cocaine was found packed into 650 individual packages. This large-scale interdiction highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in combating international drug trafficking through major shipping hubs. The port's strategic location makes it a key point for both legitimate trade and, unfortunately, illicit activities, underscoring its current relevance in the fight against organized crime and the flow of illegal substances into Europe.
