Vinaròs is a town in the province of Castellón, Spain. It is currently newsworthy due to the Guardia Civil stationed there dismantling a criminal organization involved in extensive bank fraud. Operation Creta vin, led by the Guardia Civil of Vinaròs, successfully dismantled a network specializing in bank scams across several Spanish provinces, including Castellón, Valencia, Alicante, Albacete, Tarragona, and Barcelona. The criminal group reportedly defrauded victims of €266,000 by using false identities and bank cards. The network recruited individuals to open bank accounts using foreign identities, facilitating their fraudulent activities. This operation highlights Vinaròs' role as a base for law enforcement tackling significant criminal activity affecting a wide geographical area within Spain.
