Wisconsin

Wisconsin is the site of ongoing conflict between animal welfare activists and authorities at Ridglan Farms, a beagle breeding and research facility in Blue Mounds. Recent protests, involving around 1,000 activists, resulted in approximately 25 arrests after attempts to enter the facility. Police used rubber bullets and pepper spray to control the crowds. These protests mark the second attempt in recent months to remove beagles from the facility. Simultaneously, Wisconsin, along with other Midwestern states, has been impacted by severe weather. Powerful winds and reported tornadoes have caused widespread damage to homes, buildings, and infrastructure, rendering roads impassable. While significant property damage has occurred, no deaths have been reported in Wisconsin or the surrounding affected areas. The state's current relevance stems from its dual role as a focal point for animal rights activism and its vulnerability to increasingly severe weather patterns affecting the Midwest.
