Wismarer Bucht

The Wismarer Bucht, a bay on the Baltic Sea coast of Germany, is currently the focus of significant news coverage due to a stranded humpback whale nicknamed Timmy. The whale initially became stranded around March 23rd and has since been struggling to survive in the shallow, less saline waters of the bay. Rescue attempts were made, but ultimately proved unsuccessful. The whale's condition has deteriorated, with experts now suggesting that it be left to die peacefully. A sperrzone (exclusion zone) has been established to minimize stress on the animal.
