Woro community

The Woro community is a Nigerian locality from which residents, primarily women and children, were abducted by gunmen in February. These individuals were held in a forest for six months in jihadi captivity before being rescued by Nigerian forces. The rescue operation, described as Nigeria's largest, freed 308 hostages. Following their liberation, the victims received medical attention in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has stated that the health of the rescued individuals is still being assessed. The Woro community is currently newsworthy due to this significant rescue operation and the harrowing experiences of its residents, highlighting ongoing security challenges and the impact of militant activities in the region.
