Zintan

Zintan is a town in northwest Libya, approximately 85 miles southwest of Tripoli. It gained recent notoriety as the location where Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, son of the late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, was assassinated. News reports indicate that Saif al-Islam was killed by gunmen at his home in Zintan on February 4, 2026. The Libyan attorney general's office has launched a formal investigation into the killing, dispatching forensic experts to the town.
