Armada de México

The Armada de México (Mexican Navy), part of the Secretaría de Marina (Semar), is responsible for maritime security and defense in Mexico. Recently, the Armada de México has been in the news due to its search and rescue efforts for two sailboats that went missing in the Caribbean. These vessels were part of 'Convoy Nuestra América,' a popular initiative transporting humanitarian aid, including food, medicine, and baby formula, from Mexico to Cuba. The sailboats, carrying nine crew members of various nationalities, departed from Isla Mujeres en route to Havana. After communication was lost and their arrival unconfirmed, the Semar activated a search and rescue plan. The Armada de México successfully located both sailboats and confirmed the safety of their crews. This event highlights the Armada de México's role in maritime search and rescue operations and its involvement in situations with international implications.
