Ayuntamiento de Badalona

The Ayuntamiento de Badalona, the local government of Badalona, is currently under scrutiny due to its handling of the B9 building situation. The B9, a former institute, became an informal settlement for migrants and was desalojado (evicted) in December. The Ayuntamiento's actions, specifically the lack of alternative housing offered to those evicted, have drawn criticism from the Fiscalía (prosecutor's office), political parties, and entities. The Fiscalía accuses the Ayuntamiento of not providing any aid during the eviction. The Ayuntamiento disputes this, citing a judge's ruling that the eviction wasn't conditional on providing alternative housing. Following the eviction, many displaced individuals lived under a highway bridge, prompting a cleaning operation by the Ayuntamiento. A fire also broke out in the remains of the B9 after the eviction. The Departament de Drets Socials is extending temporary housing for some of those displaced.
