Bigo Live is a social media platform, specifically noted for live video streaming, that is among several platforms facing restrictions in Indonesia. The Indonesian government, citing concerns about children's exposure to pornography, cyberbullying, online scams, and addiction, has implemented a ban on users under the age of 16 accessing these platforms. This regulation, effective from March 28, 2026, makes Indonesia the first country in Southeast Asia to enact such a broad ban. The ban will affect approximately 70 million children in Indonesia. Communications and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid signed the regulation, stating that it aims to protect young people from harmful online content. The inclusion of Bigo Live in this ban highlights the government's focus on platforms perceived as high-risk for children.
