First, it is central to the ongoing 'Negreira case,' where FC Barcelona is being investigated for payments made to José María Enríquez Negreira, the former vice-president of the CTA, allegedly for reports on referees. A Barcelona delegate testified that he received reports on referees. Second, the CTA recently acknowledged a significant error made by referee Busquets Ferrer in a match between Atlético de Madrid and Barcelona. The CTA determined that a player, Gerard Martín, should have been shown a red card, contradicting the referee's initial decision.
