Etat islamique (ISIS), also known as the Islamic State, is a jihadist militant group and self-proclaimed caliphate that rose to prominence in the early 2010s, particularly in Syria and Iraq. Recently, the French cement company Lafarge was found guilty of financing terrorism, specifically for paying millions of euros to jihadist groups, including ISIS, to maintain operations at a Syrian plant during the civil war. Additionally, three French citizens detained in Iraq for alleged involvement with ISIS have filed a lawsuit in France, accusing the group of war crimes.
