European Athletics

European Athletics is the governing body responsible for the sport of athletics within Europe. It oversees major competitions, including the European Athletics Championships, and works to develop and promote the sport across the continent. Recently, the organization has been in the news due to two distinct developments. Firstly, a security incident occurred at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, England, leading to a police arrest and transportation delays for attendees. Secondly, European Athletics, in collaboration with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), has implemented new guidelines to address the on-screen sexualisation of female athletes. These guidelines stem from athlete feedback and aim to create a more respectful and comfortable viewing experience by regulating camera angles and replay usage. These events highlight European Athletics' ongoing efforts to ensure the smooth operation of its events and to uphold athlete welfare and inclusivity.
