Forces de Soutien Rapide (FSR)

The Forces de Soutien Rapide (FSR), or Rapid Support Forces, are a Sudanese paramilitary group currently engaged in a violent conflict with the Sudanese army. They are newsworthy due to their involvement in attacks targeting civilian infrastructure, particularly healthcare facilities. Recent reports indicate a significant escalation in these attacks, including a drone strike on a hospital in Al-Jabalain on April 2nd, 2026, resulting in numerous casualties, including medical personnel. Furthermore, a separate attack on a health center on March 21st, 2026, led to over 60 deaths and nearly 90 injuries. The FSR's actions are contributing to a humanitarian crisis, disrupting medical services and endangering civilians, making them a significant factor in the ongoing instability and violence in Sudan.
